Thousands of apartments will replace a vacant hospital in Queens

A vacant hospital in the Rockaways is set to be replaced by thousands of new apartments. The former site of the Peninsula Hospital will become a 17-building residential complex with 2,200 apartments, roughly 1,900 of which will be affordable, according to Politico. The news comes about two years after Arker Companies bought the site with Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corporation for $19 million.
