Microsoft’s carbon negative goals could push other tech companies to catch up

Earlier this month, Microsoft promised to go carbon negative by 2030. It’s the first major tech company to publicly make such a pledge, setting the bar for other industry giants. Microsoft president Brad Smith earlier this month outlined a plan “to reduce and ultimately remove Microsoft’s carbon footprint” by 2050. By 2025 the company claims it will use 100 percent renewable energy and by the end of the decade will remove more carbon from the
